One of my favorite monuments in Rome is the Pyramid of Cestius (Piramide Cestia) in Testaccio. It is also the source of my inspiration for my Magical Pyramid Earrings.
Built from about 18 BC–12 BC as a tomb for Gaius Cestius Epulo, a magistrate and member of one of the four great religious corporations at Rome, the Septemviri Epulonum. from wikipedia.
It's about time that I post something about art and my inspiration. Here are just 3 of my favourites. These 3 paintings are all kind of similar to each other too, they must have been inspired by one another.
Hieronymus Bosch, the middle panel from the Garden of Earthly Delights Triptych 1503,04
In college I made a series of photos featuring cat faces superimposed on top baroque paintings. Shown at the top are 3 of them, Marie Antoinette, a little girl holding a cat of her own and an Elizabethian woman. I liked this idea so much that I decided to turn them into my own paintings. Shown above, Tabby Cat Countess and Cat Countess, 2007. Finally, after college, I decided to take it into the physical world and make them into costumes for Carnival. Shown above are the two costumes and the pannier hoop skirt that goes under the dress to make it puff out at the sides. To see more artistic endeavors visit www.penelopereichley.wordpress.com
